Lesson #2 The A.W.S. Welding Symbol


In this lesson you will become familiar with the American Welding Societies industry accepted symbol for describing weldments. We will look at the basic structure of the welding symbol and identify all components of the symbol. Learning the basic structure of the welding symbol will allow you to interpret and implement the proper weldment to metal structures according to blueprints.

Assignment #2 Instructions: Read Chapter 10 in your text then follow the links below to learn about the welding symbol in greater detail. In class you will be given three completed welding symbols that you will have to interpret in writting on your post. Each welding symbol will have a number assigned and that must be included in your post. Use the example below to format your response.
